In the past, an entrepreneur could live and become wealthy if he\u00a0associated himself with the government; nowadays, if he is not close with his\u00a0customer he will be completely lost. The government has become either a\u00a0source of aid or a problem in itself, but it is rarely a solution because it does\u00a0not ultimately control the outcome. Earlier on, education contributed to\u00a0controlling the population; now, control prevents people from acquiring the\u00a0skills and capabilities that are needed for the country\u2019s development. What\u00a0used to be logical and rational \u2013turning situations around or taking shortcuts\u00a0in order to accelerate processes, what Argentines call viveza criolla (Creole\u00a0cunning)\u2013 has become a massive problem. Clients expect compliance,\u00a0investors monitor contract terms, and importers seek accountability. None\u00a0of this can be accomplished with the viveza criolla; on the contrary, businesses\u00a0that do not play by the rules of the modern world will be left out.<\/p>\n<p>The rules of the modern world dominate economic activities because the\u00a0new rules guide the export industry, migrants, and all \u201cmodern\u201d economic\u00a0sectors. Whoever does not follow these guidelines will fail.
